Poynting offers a range of antennas that are designed specifically for marine environments where performance, quality, styling and weather protection is critical.This range of antennas is aimed at the luxury yacht market and can also be used in other applications with such harsh environments such as the harbour buildings, smaller boats, etc.
The marine range of antennas are designed within Poynting’s customary requirements of high performance, wide bandwidth and exceptional quality. This range is targeted at LTE and 5G reception at sea, as well as antennas to provide dualband WiFi distribution at sea. Many of the marine antennas are 5G Ready, where they cover the 450MHz LTE/CDMA bands and/or 3.5GHz LTE/CBRS bands which are starting to become available internationally. With these antennas, the yacht owner will not need to replace or upgrade their antennas to benefit from this new technology and frequency bands.
OMNI-291 & OMNI-400
The OMNI-291 is an existing favourite amongst our European customers and the OMNI-400 favoured by our US customers, due to their slightly tailored performance for the specific regions. Both OMNI-291 and OMNI-400 are wideband LTE antennas with gain characteristics and radiation patterns suitable for marine use; for marine, where high gain may result in severe signal fluctuation at sea and too low gain may result in inefficiency and poor reception – but there is a ‘sweet spot’ to consider. We have designed these antennas optimally for these environments from not only an electrical performance point of view but also from a mechanical & environmental perspective (IP68).
The OMNI-496 is typically used to distribute dualband WiFi on deck. This antenna is a high performance WiFi antenna, which is based on our famous OMNI-296 antenna, which caters for dualband 2.4GHz & 5GHz frequency bands from the same port. The OMNI-496 is IP68 rated and produced specifically for marine use, with the same marine mounting options as our OMNI-291 and OMNI-400 antennas.
Additional to these antennas, we are also releasing the OMNI-402 as our latest antenna in this range. This MIMO omni antenna offers similar performance as two OMNI-400 or OMNI-291 antennas, but is designed as a 2×2 MIMO antenna in a single, but slightly taller radome. This antenna covers the 450MHz to 2700MHz LTE bands (with 3.5GHz capability) so that you benefit from these frequency bands, no matter where your voyage takes you. The OMNI-402 MIMO marine and coastal antenna thereby allows you to reduce the number of antennas on your vessel where space and aesthetics is a concern. These antennas are IP68 rated and suitable for these harsh and adverse environments.
The MIMO-3-V2 series of antennas is designed for the transportation market, and is already fully weatherproof and suitable for marine applications. The MIMO-3-V2 series of antennas provides a single antenna radome housing with a combination of LTE (450MHz – 3.8GHz), WiFi (2.4GHz & 5GHz) as well as GPS/GLONASS ports. The newly released version 2 of this antenna now offers a variety of mounting options ‘out of the box’.
A new series of antennas, the PUCK Series, are similar to the abovementioned MIMO-3 series, only much smaller. This antenna series will be released soon and boast multiple configurations of LTE (690MHz – 3.8GHz), WiFi (2.4GHz &5GHz) as well as GPS/GLONASS. The PUCK series is designed as a small profile, low gain antenna for the transportation & IoT market, which is fully weatherproof and ideal for smaller inland boats, buildings, buoys, and various onboard IoT applications.
The OMNI-291, OMNI-400, OMNI-402 & OMNI-496 antennas offer a standard 1”-14TPI marine adaptor (BRKT-40 in the box) and can optionally provide a standard 1.25”-11TPI marine adapter (BRKT-41) where this larger mounting points are already installed on the yacht or boat. Both brackets (BRKT-40 and BRKT-41) can be provided optionally for our compatible non-marine antennas. A series of stainless steel boat mounts are available, namely the BRKT-37, BRKT-38 & BRKT-39.
